Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS)

Depression is common during pregnancy and in the first year after giving birth. In Singapore, about 1 in 10 mothers who recently delivered may have postnatal depression.

The Edinburg Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) is a set of 10 screening questions that can be used to assess postnatal depression.
Recommended for mothers who had delivered in the past six months and can be used for up to a year on a need-to basis.

Please note this is a self-assessment and not a medical diagnosis.

As you recently had a baby, your mental well-being is important to enable you to care well for your child, and for you to cope well with this transition to motherhood. This screening tool will help as a brief self-assessment.
