Different people have different ways of remembering to take their medication. Here are some tips to help you remember to take your medication!

Place your medication in easy to remember areas

This will remind you to take your medication when you see them. For example, placing your medication at your bedside table works well, especially if you have to take your medication in the morning or at bedtime.

Take medication with your daily activities

Develop a regular routine of taking your medication with an activity you do at the same time every day. For example, you can take your morning medication just before heading out for your morning walk.

Set medication reminders

Use an alarm to remind you when you need to take your medication, or ask someone else to remind you when it is time.

Check off a calendar

Use a calendar to keep track every time after you have taken your medication. This will remind you if you missed any of your medication and avoid taking them too many times accidentally.

Know what you should do if you forget to take your medication

Look for your medication on the HealthHub Medications A-Z site to find out what you what you should do if you forget to take your medication. Look under the “Missed dose” section. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions. 

Make a note when you miss a dose of your medication and share it with your doctor or pharmacist at your next appointment. This will help them to understand how well your medication is working for you.
