A pill box is used to sort your medications according to the day and time you take them. It is helpful if you need to take a few different medications regularly.

Step 1: Start with one medication you take regularly and set the rest aside

Packing one medication at a time helps to prevent mix up.

Step 5: Close the pill box when you are done packing

Store your pill box in a cool dry place away from heat and sunlight. Remember to keep your pill box safely out of the reach of children.

Some tablets and capsules should be kept in their original package until it is time to take them

Light or moisture-sensitive medication are examples that should not be packed into a pill box. Keeping these medications in their original package prevents them from losing their effectiveness or becoming harmful.

Look for these instructions on your medication label, or search for your medication on the HealthHub Medications A-Z site, under the “Storage” section.

Keep medications you take only when needed separately from your pill box

One example is Paracetamol, which is taken only when needed for pain relief. This will help you avoid confusion when taking your medication.

Remember to take your other medications that are not packed in your pill box

Examples may include injections, eye drops, inhalers, syrups, and creams.
