Follow this step-by-step guide on how you can keep track of how much medication you have at home. Let’s use an example here, Nifedipine LA 30mg.
Step 1: Count your medication
Uncle Tan has 23 tablets of Nifedipine LA 30mg left.
Step 2: Find out how many tablets you need daily
Uncle Tan needs to take 1 tablet of Nifedipine LA 30mg every morning. Always remember to look at the latest medication label for the most recent instructions.
Step 3: Count the number of days until next appointment
Uncle Tan’s next appointment is in 21 days.
Step 4: Determine if you have enough medication
Uncle Tan has enough Nifedipine LA 30mg until his next appointment. He currently has 23 tablets left, which is more than 21 tablets, the amount needed until his next appointment.
Always collect enough of the medications that you take regularly.
If you find that you will run out of medication before your next appointment, talk to your doctor or pharmacist early, or return to the clinic for an earlier appointment. Don't wait until you have only one or two tablets left!
