The signs of a trusted healthcare provider

When it comes to medical procedures—especially invasive ones like injections—your safety is the top priority. Here’s how you can ensure you are in good hands:

• Only registered healthcare professionals should perform medical procedures.
• Always double check the provider’s credentials:
  • If someone claims to be a doctor, check that their name is listed on the Singapore Medical Council’s register.
  • If they claim to be a dentist, verify that that their name is listed on the Singapore Dental Council’s register.
• Check the clinic’s credibility—if it’s not listed in the HealthHub directory, be cautious.

Understand potential risks

• Unsafe products can be harmful
  Unverified treatments may contain dangerous ingredients, leading to serious side effects like diarrhoea, headache, pain, skin rashes, swelling of hands and feet, vomiting – and even death. Such products can also worsen existing medical conditions and delay proper treatment.
   
• Risky procedures and advice
  Unregistered individuals may not have the right training, which puts you at risk of infections, lifelong scarring or severe health issues, especially with injections and invasive treatments. 
   
• No recourse if something goes wrong
  Unverified providers can be difficult to track down if you experience complications. Many operate under fake identities or disappear overnight, leaving you without support or a refund.

Health Professionals Councils and Boards

• Healthcare professionals are registered for your safety. In Singapore, doctors and dentists are registered with the Singapore Medical Council and Singapore Dental Council. Other healthcare professionals, such as pharmacists, nurses, and allied health professionals, are registered with their respective councils and professional boards. 
   
• Healthcare services are also licensed by the Ministry of Health (MOH). MOH conducts regular checks and ensures that the healthcare services are safe, so patients are protected.
