A helping hand or a listening ear can make a difference to the lives of the elderly who live alone, especially those who are battling with disabilities or ageing issues. Befriending Services aim to improve the overall emotional and psychological wellbeing of elderly living in the community.
Trained volunteers visit these seniors as befrienders, providing some relief to their loneliness, isolation or boredom. Through their interactions, befrienders can also identify areas that can improve the senior's day-to-day environment and provide the necessary assistance.
