What is this medication for?
Crisaborole is a non-steroidal topical treatment for eczema (atopic dermatitis).
It reduces inflammation, redness and itching of the skin.
This medication is used in children 3 months of age and older.
How should I take or use this medication?
Apply a thin layer to the affected skin areas.
Do not use this medication in your eyes, mouth, or intravaginal.
Wash your hands after applying this medication, unless your hands are being treated.
Do not swim, bathe, or shower or wash off this medication for at least 4 hours after applying. If you do swim, bathe or shower within the 4-hour time period after dosing, do not reapply until your next scheduled dosing time.
What should I do if I forget to take or use this medication?
If you forgot to apply a dose of this medication, apply it as soon as you remember. Skip the dose if it is time for the next dose. Apply your next dose at the usual time.
Do not apply two doses to make up for the missed dose.
What precautions should I take when taking or using this medication?
Inform your healthcare professional if:
You are allergic to this medication or any of the other ingredients of this medication.
You are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
If you are using moisturiser, you are advised to apply the moisturiser at least 15 minutes after this medication.
What are some common side effects of this medication?
This medication may cause warm sensation (sometimes burning) or stinging sensation when first applied to your skin, especially on sensitive skin areas (such as face and neck). These symptoms are usually mild and subside after a few days of use.
What are some rare but serious side-effects that I need to seek medical advice immediately?
Stop using this medication and inform your doctor immediately if you have any of symptoms:
Drug allergy:
Swollen face/eyes/lips/tongue
Difficulty breathing
Itchy skin rashes over your whole body
Redness, swelling, or severe irritation over the treated site
How should I store this medication?
Store in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight.
Keep this medication away from children.
How do I throw away this medication safely?
Pack this medication into a black trash bag and seal it tightly before throwing it into the rubbish chute or bin.
