With a CHAS card, all Singapore citizens can receive subsidies for medical care at participating general practitioner and dental clinics near their homes.
The Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) is a scheme by the Ministry of Health (MOH) that enables Singapore Citizens, including Pioneer Generation (PG) and Merdeka Generation (MG) cardholders, to receive subsidies for medical and dental care at participating General Practitioner (GP) and dental clinics near their homes.
To enjoy subsidies under CHAS, submit an application on www.chas.sg. All Singapore Citizens are eligible to apply.
The colour of the CHAS card indicates the subsidy tier that cardholders are entitled to, namely the CHAS Blue, Orange or Green tier. All Pioneer Generation (PG) and Merdeka Generation (MG) seniors also receive special subsidies at CHAS clinics.
The CHAS benefits will be tiered according to household monthly income per person or the Annual Value (AV) of the home, as indicated in the table below:
$1,201 - $2,000
$1,200 and below
$13,001 - $21,000
$13,000 and below
(Effective from 01 January 2024)
$21,001 - $25,000
$21,000 and below
^ Household monthly income per person is the total gross household monthly income divided by a total number of family members living together. Gross monthly income refers to your basic employment income, trade/self-employed income, overtime pay, allowances, cash awards, commissions, and bonuses.
^^ The AV of your home is the estimated annual rent if it is rented out. It is assessed by IRAS.
^^^ Existing CHAS cardholders without household income and are eligible for a CHAS card with higher subsidies after the CHAS AV threshold is revised from 01 Jan 2024, will automatically be issued with new CHAS cards from February 2024, without having to re-apply.
Calculate your household monthly income per person.
Singapore Citizens who have the Public Assistance (PA) card do not need to apply for CHAS, as they can already receive full CHAS subsidies by showing the PA card.
Successful applicants and their household members will receive a CHAS card that indicates the subsidy tier they are eligible for, as well as a welcome pack with information on the use of the card. Unless otherwise indicated, CHAS cards typically have a validity period of 2 years.
The table below shows the different conditions that CHAS covers.
