This article illustrates the right way to use your eye drops.
| Wash your hands with soap and water before you apply the eye drops. | |
| Read the instructions on the label. |
| Shake the bottle before using the medication.
| Remove the seal. |
| Sit with your head tilted backward and look up.
| Using a finger, gently pull down the lower eyelid to form a pocket. |
| Hold the bottle with the dropper as close to the eye as possible. Avoid touching the eye with the dropper.
| Apply one drop into the eye. Replace the eye drops cap after each use. |
| Place your finger against the inner corner of your eye for 1 minute. This prevents medication from entering the tear duct. |
| Close your eye gently and minimise blinking.
Do not rub your eyes. Wipe off any excess drops around the eye with a tissue. |
| If you have to apply 2 different types of eye drops at the same time, apply the second eye drop 5 minutes after applying the first. This allows the two different eye drops to work better. |
