Palbociclib

Palbociclib is a medicine used in the treatment of hormone-receptor positive advanced breast cancer. It can be used in combination with other breast cancer drugs such as Letrozole.

Palbociclib is a medicine used in the treatment of hormone-receptor positive advanced breast cancer. It can be used in combination with other breast cancer drugs such as Letrozole.

Dosage and How to ​​Use

Take the capsules with food once daily at approximately the same time each day. Follow your healthcare provider’s instructions on the amount and days to take this medication. Do not chew or break the capsules.

Avoid consuming grapefruit and its juice​ while you are taking Palbociclib.

Missed ​a Dose

If you miss a dose of Palbociclib, take it as soon as you remember on the same day and return to your regular time the next day. Do not take 2 doses in the same day to make up for a missed dose.

Side Effects, Precautions, Contraindication

What are the side effects of Palbociclib?

  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Diarrhea and/or stomach discomfort
  • Decreased appetite
  • Sore mouth or mouth ulcers
  • Hair loss
  • Bone pain or muscle ache
  • Numbness or tingling sensation in the arms, hands or feet
  • Tiredness and lack of energy
  • Decreased blood cells
  • This may increase your chances of getting infections, bruising or bleeding and feeling tired

Inform your doctor if any of the following occurs:

  • Signs of infection – fever, chills, cough, sore throat
  • Unusual bruising, bleeding or black stools
  • Cough with chest pain or breathing difficulty
  • Side effects become severe

What precautions should I take ​​while on Palbociclib?

  • Use effective birth control during and for at least 2 weeks after stopping treatment with Palbociclib. Inform your doctor if you plan to get or suspect that you are pregnant.
  • Do not take medications and supplements without informing your physician and pharmacist.
  • To minimize your risk of getting infection, avoid crowds or being near people with infection.

Handling and Sto​rage

Store Palbociclib tablets out of the reach of children, at room temperature (20 to 25°C), away from heat, light and moisture.
