Financial Schemes for Caregivers and Seniors

Disability Support 

Financial support is available if your loved one’s care needs get more complex. From daily costs of living to medical fees assistance, there’s an array of support on hand.  

Seniors' Mobility and Enabling Fund (SMF) 
SMF subsidises essential care items for seniors, including wheelchairs, hearing aids, and consumables like milk supplements and adult diapers. This support helps seniors remain mobile and independent in their communities.

Pioneer Generation Disability Assistance Scheme (PioneerDAS) 
PioneerDAS provides monthly cash payouts of $100 to eligible Pioneer Generation seniors with disabilities, helping cover daily care expenses and supporting independent living.

CareShield Life 
CareShield Life is a long-term care insurance scheme for Singaporeans over 40, offering lifetime monthly payout for those who develop severe disability and need help with daily activities.

ElderShield 
ElderShield is a severe disability insurance plan providing basic monthly payouts to those who become severely disabled, especially in old age, to help offset long-term care costs.

Interim Disability Assistance Programme for the Elderly (IDAPE) 
IDAPE offers $150 or $250 monthly to elderly Singaporeans with severe disabilities who were not eligible for ElderShield or CareShield Life, easing the financial burden of care.

MediSave Care 
MediSave Care allows severely disabled Singaporeans aged 30 and above to withdraw up to $200 monthly from their MediSave for long-term care needs, supporting home-based care.

ElderFund 
ElderFund provides discretionary cash assistance to severely disabled, lower-income Singaporeans who have limited family support and do not qualify for other schemes.

Equipment Rental Scheme (ERS)
ERS offers affordable, subsidised rental of medical equipment for eligible patients with life-limiting conditions, supporting care at home and reducing upfront costs.

Medical Bills 

The following schemes draw on your CPF, insurance, and subsidies to cover the cost of medical bills, so you and your loved one can focus on rest and recovery. 

Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) 
CHAS provides subsidies for medical and dental care at participating clinics, helping Singaporeans of all income levels manage outpatient healthcare costs.

Medical Fee Exemption Card (MFEC) 
MFEC covers medical treatment costs at approved institutions and Community Care services for those who need both medical and financial assistance, issued through social workers.

MediSave 
MediSave is a compulsory savings account that helps pay for hospitalisation, certain outpatient treatments, and intermediate and long-term care services for you and your family.

MediShield Life is a compulsory basic health insurance plan that provides lifetime coverage for large hospital bills and selected costly outpatient treatments.

MediFund acts as a safety net for Singaporeans who have exhausted other subsidies and still need help paying medical bills, offering additional financial relief.

Caregivers Training Grant (CTG) 
CTG provides up to $400 a year in subsidies for caregivers to attend approved courses, equipping them with skills to better care for seniors or persons with disabilities.

Home Caregiving Grant (HCG) 
HCG offers a monthly cash payout of up to $600 to support families caring for loved ones with permanent moderate disability at home, easing out-of-pocket expenses.

Migrant Domestic Worker (MDW) Levy Concession for Persons with Disabilities
This concession reduces the monthly levy for hiring a migrant domestic worker from $300 to $60 if you are caring for a senior or a person with disabilities, making home care more affordable.
