Dosage and How to ​Use

  • You can take this medicine with or after food.
  • If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only the usual dose. Do not double your dose or use extra medicine to make up for the missed dose.

What are the possible side effects of the medicine?

The common side effects of norethisterone include:

  • Headache/ Migraine
  • Nausea
  • Swelling due to water retention
  • Spotting or bleeding between periods

Check with your doctor if any of the above symptoms are troubling you or do not go away.

If you experience any of the following serious side-effects, stop taking norethisterone and seek medical attention immediately:

  • Very bad headache 
  • Sudden changes to your sight or hearing
  • Large increases in blood pressure
  • Unusual pain or swelling of legs
  • Very bad pain when you breathe or cough
  • Yellowing of your eyes or skin (Jaundice)

How do I know if I am allergi​c to this medicine?

The symptoms of a drug allergy include one or more of the following:

  • Swollen face/eyes/lips
  • Difficulty in breathing
  • Itchy rashes over your whole body

If you experience any of these symptoms, you should stop your medicine and see your doctor immediately.

What precautions should I foll​ow when taking this medicine?

Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you have other medical conditions such as:

  • Migraine
  • History of blood clots
  • Breast cancer​
  • Liver problems

Inform your doctor if you are breast-feeding, pregnant or likely to become pregnant while you are taking this medicine.

  • Keep your medicines in the original container or packaging, tightly closed or sealed in a cool and dry place. 
  • Keep the medicine out of reach of children. 
  • Throw away all expired medicines.
